SWP Calculator: how long can your corpus fund withdrawals?

A Systematic Withdrawal Plan (SWP) redeems a fixed amount from a fund every month. This calculator shows how long a corpus could last for a chosen monthly withdrawal and an assumed return, and how the balance changes along the way.

How it is calculated

Each month: balance = balance × (1 + monthly rate) − withdrawal, until the balance reaches zero or the period ends.

Worked example

A corpus of ₹50,00,000 with ₹30,000 withdrawn every month at an assumed 8% a year lasts about 40.0 years.

Frequently asked questions

Is an SWP taxed?

Withdrawals are redemptions, so gains may be taxable under the rules in force at the time. Speak to a tax adviser for your situation.

What if returns are lower than assumed?

The corpus will run out sooner. Test lower returns and smaller withdrawals to see the sensitivity.
