Emergency Fund Calculator: how much cash cushion do you need?
An emergency fund is money kept aside for sudden needs such as job loss or a medical bill. A common guide is to cover several months of expenses and EMIs. This calculator multiplies your monthly outgo by the months you want to cover.
How it is calculated
Emergency fund = (monthly expenses + monthly EMIs) × months to cover.
Worked example
Expenses of ₹50,000 and EMIs of ₹15,000 a month, covering 6 months, gives a fund of ₹3,90,000.
